The regulation of online poker in the United States is quickly becoming a very hot topic in the poker community, mainly because, after many years of strife, this dream is finally starting to become tangible. More and more states are considering it, and though it’s still meeting with some resistance, more and more lawmakers are beginning to warm up to the idea of having online poker legalized. It’s really only a matter of time, so companies who wish to cash in on this opportunity are getting ready so that they have first dibs whenever the bill does get passed. PokerStars and Wynn are perfect examples of this. The two have decided to join together in preparation for the future. Once poker has been legalized, Wynn and PokerStars will team up to be called PokerStarsWynn.com.
A Precarious Situation
Wynn Resorts is one of the most established hotel and casinos in the Las Vegas Strip. This company has actually been in operation for more than 40 years now and it continues to provide the people of Vegas with top notch service. PokerStars, on the other hand, is the biggest poker site online and has millions of users worldwide. These sites may be top of their class, but there’s no denying that they’re both facing strife in the current recession. For one thing, brick and mortar casinos are now becoming increasingly unpopular since most people prefer to go on the internet in order to gamble. Online poker sites, on the other hand, are at risk of losing their US customer base once the bill does gets legalized in the country, mainly because drafts of the bill contain clauses that forbid the sites that provided illegal online poker to US citizens to open shop.
It’s the bill’s way of ensuring that new businesses made by US based companies will have a fighting chance against the more established networks.
A Way to Get Around Technicalities
Of course, these bills have no yet been passed, and PokerStars is even supporting a bill that actually lets them have their way by ensuring that no penalties be given to online poker sites based outside the country. But there’s a big risk that they would not get what they want, so it seems that this is the surefire solution that they have found. By partnering with Wynn, both sides get what they want, and they get a nifty headstart once the bill does gets legalized. It’s going to be interesting to wait and see which sites and casinos partner up in the weeks that follow, in the meantime get the latest pokerstars marketing code here.
