WPT Celebrity Invitational Final Table All Set

It has been a long and grueling fight for the celebs who joined the WPT (World Poker Tour) Celebrity Invitational but the field has finally been narrowed down to the last six players, the ones with enough skill and luck to make it into the final table.

WPT Celebrity Invitational

It was one of the most star-studded fields ever for the WPT Invitational, and also one of the most crowded. Even before the tournament started, tournament director Matt Savage already let out that the seats were all filled, which meant that more than 500 celebs and big wigs came over to play. The top prize of the competition amounts to a pretty sizeable $100,000. Of course, that’s not much compared to the huge prizes being offered in other tournaments; but then again, you should keep in mind that the WPT Celebrity invitational is also a charity tournament. Players are free to avail of the rebuy, which costs $200. All the proceeds from these rebuys will go to Chrysalis, a charity foundation that aims to help homeless and impoverished people achieve self-sufficiency.

The Final Table

Of course, with the juicy prizes and the noble cause, it wasn’t surprising that a lot of celebs wanted to get in on all the fun. As mentioned, the seats were all filled, which pretty much leaves little doubt as to how difficult it was to hold on and keep fighting. But now that field has been narrowed down to six, with each player assured of at least $5,000. Linda Johnson, who took the lead after day 1, was one of those who were eliminated. So were Antonio Esfandiari, Liv Boeree, and many other pros. Damon Schramm, lawyer from Los Angeles, has entered into the final table bearing the biggest stack with 865,000 chips. Belgian WSOP winner David Kitai is close behind him, though, with 845,000 chips. At third place is Almira Skripchenko with 710,000 chips and at fourth place is Dan Heimiller with 700,000 chips.

Dinara Khaziyeva is at fifth place with 670,000 chips and George Rechnitzer is at sixth place with 660,000. What’s amazing about this final table is that the differences between the players’ chip stacks are pretty negligible. It’s going to be an even fight when final table play begins on March 2. It could be anyone’s game at this point, but we won’t know whose until the tournament is concluded next week.
