Have you ever wanted to watch a cartoon series that’s all about the world of poker? Well, now you can, with The Micros. The Micros is a web cartoon that was created and directed by John “JimmyLegs” Wray and Jay Rosenkrantz. The series is about three poker players, each of them having a different sort of play style. The first one is a “n00b”, a grinder, and a madman – or rather, madwoman.
About the Show
The cartoon runs for a little more than seven minutes and utilizes simple but rather endearing 3d graphics. It was, as mentioned, created, directed, and written by Rosenkrantz and Wray. The premise of the show is mainly about the world of high stakes poker. A newbie at the game, dubbed Chase “SwedeTooth” Berger, has just made his foray into online poker, having deposited $200.00 into his account. However, after playing a whopping 800,000 hands, all he earned was a measly $3.50. His friend Tommy “REALTommyPhuoc” is a more successful player by far and is a real “grinder”. He multi-tables like there’s no tomorrow and is able to turn a consistent profit. However, he only plays at the lowest stakes and is too afraid to move up so all his potential is wasted.
The third character is Rose “BALLS” Ballenger, a heads up expert who plays at all stakes, seemingly without rhyme or reason. As a result, BALLS’ bankroll is a lesson in zigzags. These three players are all friends who, for different reasons, have not made it big in the world. Sound familiar? Well, that’s because these are the type of players you meet everyday at the tables. The premise of the show is excellent, and it only gets more interesting as the plot rolls on.
“Destiny”, he says
Their relatively boring lives are interrupted when Chase is gripped by the frustrations of having only turned a miniscule profit after spending so many hours playing. He decides to throw caution to the wind and join the MegaMillions where – well, let’s leave it at that, shall we? Head on over to YouTube and watch the show yourself. It’s certainly something that would catch the fancy of poker players everywhere. The next episode is set to come out this January, and already the world’s taking notice. Just a week out and they’ve alread earned 80,000 views and 1,000 subscribers. What’s interesting is that there will be cameos of some poker celebs on the show, though Wray is keeping mum about who those guests will be.
