It’s the moment we’ve all been waiting for at the SuperStar Showdown: Viktor “Isildur1” Blom vs. Daniel Negreanu. It’s the ultimate clash of the titans at PokerStars, and we’ll be given front row seats. Their match is set to occur on March 20 and March 27, the first ever SuperStar Showdown to be stretched out for two days.
The Biggest SuperStar Showdown
Viktor “Isildur1” Blom may be PokerStars newest poster boy this year, but Daniel Negreanu is still the site’s top dog – not that there’s a rivalry between them, of course. Still, the possibility of this mach occurring has long been hinted upon, even before the first ever SuperStar Showdown session was held. Negreanu has certainly made no secret about his esire to face Isildur1 on the felt. He even logged about it and is even practicing for it at the $5/$10 tables. Unfortunately for Negreanu, he’s losing before the match has even started. He lost $100,000 to Sauce123 on a heads up battle at the $50/$100 tables – making people think that his practice matches are particularly expensive.
There are some people who are thinking that Negreanu has absolutely no chance of winning this one. Isildur1’s the multi-tabling expert, not him. Negreanu’s a very talented poker player, to be sure; his winnings are a testament to his prowess to the felt. But then, it takes a special breed of player to play like the new pros do. Still, it’s going to be pretty interesting watching how this showdown is going to play out. Everyone’s rooting for Isildur1 to win this match. But who knows, Negreanu might just be the one to end Blom’s winning streak.
About the Match
The two of them will be battling it out on four $50/$100 No Limit Hold’em Tables and will play for 2,500 hands. The buy in is a whopping $150,000. So, all in all, they’re going to play 5,000 hands. As mentioned, the first session will be held on March 20. The remaining 2,500 hands will be held a week later, on March 27. It’s expected that a lot of people will be watching the games. It was actually a nice move for PokerStars to space out the challenge and make it two sessions instead of just one. This makes the result more decisive. Also, in the event that they end up with a 1:1 rate, PokerStars might hold a definitive tie breaker, which would certainly be interesting to watch.
