The new Home Games feature at PokerStars has caused quite a buzz in the community, as its revolutionary features allow for an infinitely more personalized experience for poker players everywhere. However, while it has been getting positive reviews from pretty much everyone, the French government has decided to suspend it temporarily. They are currently investigating the feature to see whether or not it fits French gambling law.
Yay or Nay?
While the rest of the world is enjoying PokerStars’ great new feature called ‘Home Games’, players in France have to wait in trepidation over whether or not their government will allow the feature to be made available. The Home Games feature basically allows players to create their own ‘club’, so to speak, and customize it the way they want. Membership can be limited to just friends and family. They can even have their own leaderboard should they wish it. It’s an awesome new feature that really adds a whole new dimension to the game. However, the French government isn’t too keen about letting players run amok in setting the stakes, but it’s still unsure whether this really is the case or not.
Of course, they’re not closing the doors completely yet and are still putting the matter under investigation. The most terrible part of this is that they set no timeline for the said investigation; it could be over today or it could be over next year, nobody really knows. For the time being, however, PokerStars will be keeping their existing database intact to lay in wait for the final decision.
The Reaction
A lot of people were displeased with the news about this roadblock that the Home Games feature is facing in France. The undefined amount of time that the investigation will span is pretty much annoying everyone. But then, there’s really little that anyone can do about it. Hopefully, the French government and PokerStars are already working on this issue so that the kinks can be smoothed out as soon as possible and the feature can be made available to the French poker players in the soonest possible time. Still, despite this setback, French players still have a lot to be thankful for, especially with the WSOPE moving from London to Cannes. The French poker industry is certainly growing in leaps and bounds, and with the way things are looking right now, it’s only going to get better and better.
