These past few months, there were so many online poker rooms that implemented drastic changes to their sites that you’d have thought they were preparing for a major upheaval. This time, Poker Fantasy, one of ECM Global’s four online gaming sites, has recently decided to move to the Merge Gaming Network, beginning on January 31st. The Merge Gaming Network is licensed and regulated by the Kahnawake Gaming Commission and is the 19th biggest online poker room in the net in terms of traffic.
What’s in Store for the Players?
Of course, the fact that Poker Fantasy is moving means only one thing: big changes. What should we expect from this new development, you ask? Well, for one thing, a two-week downtime for Poker Fantasy. Players will be unable to access the site for two whole weeks because it will be updating its software. Poker Fantasy will have its relaunch on February 15, but the date is still tentative. Meanwhile, players are advised to withdraw their funds as soon as possible if they wish to do so. Otherwise, the money will just be automatically transferred to Poker Fantasy’s new home at Merge Network. Poker Fantasy’s Customer Service, however, will be up and running for the whole duration of the downtime, so there’s no need to worry should you have any inquiries or problems.
The move might seem troublesome for the regular players, but the rewards will be great once the new site emerges. The Merge Network is well-known for its excellent service and also for the fact that the sites there accept US players. By moving to the Merge Network, Poker Fantasy will be joining the ranks of Carbon Poker, Aced, Poker MVP, Poker Nordica, Reefer Poker, and Spin32 Poker. There is no doubt at all that Poker Fantasy will come out even better than before.
What’s going on in the other Poker Rooms?
Poker Fantasy’s move may be the first site to migrate this 2010, but it is by no means the first online poker room to do so these past few months. Just last November, Noble Poker absorbed Fair Poker. Cake Poker and Third Bullet Poker followed shortly after with a merger of their own. Just recently, Everleaf Poker and Universal Poker have also agreed to a merge, though they have yet to finalize a new name. The way things are going, it seems that there will be only more changes to come in the poker world this 2010.
