Since the days of Survivor and Big Brother in the early 2000’s, reality shows have increasingly become a popular source of entertainment for people. As the years passed by, however, the themes of these reality shows continuously became more and more specific. Now, it’s not uncommon to see a poker-themed reality show, and the newest one happens to be All In Entertainment LLC’s “Fatty’s Where Poker Gets REAL”.
Where Poker Gets REAL
The details about the show’s specifics are still rather scarce except that it will be centered around Fatty’s Poker Club, which is located in New York City. It will be following the lives of club owner Mike “The Nose” Castaldo and the regulars in his club. As Reality Shows always seem to go, you can expect lots of drama and maybe a bit of comedy here and there. Poker Reality shows also happen to focus a lot on the stress that the game can bring to its players during the low points of their game, and the high it can give during the winning streaks. But since All in Entertainment will be teaming up with Fantazzle Fantasy Sports Games, there’s going to be a pretty nifty twist to the show.
Like the show itself, details are sparse, but speculation is that it will be similar to Fantazzle’s previous games wherein the contestants have to choose players on the show to build a ‘team’ of poker players who will most likely garner the biggest success in a poker tournament. The rewards will include a seat to the 2011 WSOP and also entry into the club.
Those who watched the WSOP Main Event may remember the group of 10 players who wore Fatty’s paraphernalia as a sort of promotion. One of them managed to place deep enough to win some dough, while another, namely Scott “Mayhem” Einiger, was the one who managed to knock Phil Ivey out of the game on Day 2.
The Auditions
The show itself has yet to be picked up by TV networks, though their targets include Starz, HBO, FX, and ESPN. In fact, the show is still in its production stages and they have yet to choose their cast. Lacey Jones, famous poker pro and poker babe, was included in the team that evaluated those who auditioned. It has been announced that she, too, will appear in some of the episodes of the show. If you’re interested and you missed the first auditions, worry not because they will be holding another one in the near future at an Atlantic City casino.
