The whole poker world is talking about the WSOPE Main Event and its star-studded leader board. Just at Day 2 and already the event promises to be one of the most memorable ever in the history of the tournament. Why? Two words: Ivey and Isildur1. That’s right, Phil Ivey and Isildur1 are featuring pretty strongly in the leader board, so much so that it almost seems like their names are like flashing neon signs that call poker fans from all over the world to watch. Both of these players have played the highest stakes cash games online at Full Tilt Poker.
Names in Neon
Viktor Blom, a.k.a. Isildur1 – though the authenticity of this claim is still questionable – is at the top of the leader board of the WSOPE after Day 2, with a very narrow lead over Bojan Gledovic. Blom has 443,200 and Gledovic has 442,300. To be honest, at this point, it’s still anyone’s game. But the fact that the guy who bullied Tom “durrrr” Dwan in his own playground and who kept the whole industry guessing for quite a long time has a real big chance to get to the very top of this tournament is big, humongous, gigantic news. Then again, Phil Ivey’s at sixth place with a stack of 289,300. He’s waiting at the shadows, just like an assassin, always quiet, always stealthy. It’s a well-known fact that Ivey hardly ever talks at tournaments, but his mere presence is a scream, a shout, and people can’t help but focus on Ivey despite his stern silence at the felt. It could be a clash between the titans that the WSOPE is getting set up here for; and this is the stuff that makes the game epic.
Other Glittery Names
Of course, Blom and Ivey aren’t the only big names that figure in this game. There’s still a long way to go, so it’s unsure if either of them will even manage to hold on until the final table. Who knows, it could be a final table composed completely of fresh blood. Then again, it could easily turn the out differently too, especially with Daniel Negreanu hovering pretty close to the leader board at 33rd place. Some pros, however, weren’t as fortunate. Previous WSOPE Main Event champs Anette Obrestad and John Juanda were eliminated pretty quickly from the game, and so was Phil Laak. Freddy Deeb is still in the game, having managed to make it into the 47th spot. With sixty six players left, it’s not a pretty impressive place to be, but who knows?
