High Stakes Poker, the highest rated poker-related TV show, has a special treat for poker fans this Valentine’s Day as Season Six makes its premiere on GSN. Not only that, we also get to see an eight-hour marathon of the best episodes from seasons one to five – a perfect reminder of why exactly we love poker.
What’s in Store for Season 6?
Intense action and insanely high stakes – those are two of the things that you should expect for High Stakes Poker Season 6. With a minimum buy-in of $200,000 for a pure cash-game competition, this show is only for the best of the best. You can expect to see some of the biggest names in the poker industry like Doyle Brunson, Phil Hellmuth, Barry Greenstein, Phil Ivey, Tom Dwan, Patrik Antonius, Daniel Negreanu, Mike Matusow, Eli Elezra, Andreas Hoivold, Dennis Phillips, Lex Veldhuis, and David Benyamine. They’re all familiar faces in the High Stake Poker Series and are slated to return for this latest season. Other pros who are also slated to make an appearance for season 6 are Jason Mercier, Bertrand Grospellier, Sammy George, Gus Hansen, and Yevgeniv Timoshenko. With this fantastic line up, you can be sure that the poker battles in season 6 will be nothing short of bloody.
Season 6 will be filmed at the Golden Nugget Hotel and Casino in Downtown Las Vegas. It will be hosted by Gabe Kaplan, one of the most established poker pros and commentators in the industry. Kara Scott will also make her first appearance in the High Stakes Poker Series as Gabe Kaplan’s Co-host. Apparently, her performances in the EPT 2007 and 2008 were enough to earn her quite a good reputation as a commentator for poker. Indeed, with these two on the broadcast booth, you can be certain that there will be some insightful and entertaining commentaries to accompany each episode.
A Special Treat
You can watch out for the premiere of Season 6 on GSN this February 14, 8:00 PM EST. Before that, however, there will be a special marathon entitled “I love Poker” that will run for eight hours straight. This marathon features a recap of all the best episodes of High Stakes Poker Seasons one to five. So, really, even if you don’t have a date for Valentine’s Day, High Stakes Poker provides a valid enough reason to actually stay at home.
