The WSOP is fast approaching and things are getting pretty exciting online at the high stakes poker. A good number of notable poker players popped up last night but Gus Hansen managed to come out on top at the end with a very impressive $419k in winnings.
Gus Hansen on Fire
Things are looking good for Gus Hansen as his overall profit sums up to a staggering $3.9 million this year with $1.3 million of it earned in only seven days. Although things went well for Gus Hansen, you really can’t say the same for his friend and teammate Patrik Antonius who turned out to be the victim of Hansen’s plays during their games of $300/$600 PLO 6-Max PLO games with a few $3000/$6000 Omaha Hi-Lo as well. As a result, Patrik Antonius, who managed to perform well in the past month, has lost a total of $241k and is close to endangering his overall profit for this year.
Gus Hansen was on fire as he played his hands winning a sum more than 400k in a night. Even with the presence of the recently reactivated Cole South couldn’t slow Hansen down and Cole South eventually ended up with a $161k loss overall instead.
Of course, much like Gus Hansen, there were plenty of players who walked out making profits as well. Such players include ronnyr37617 with a total of $105k in winnings, Cinderella03 with $38k and doubleU2 with $28k. Nobody went close to Hansen’s $400+k though aside from Ilari Sahamies on his Ilari FIN account and managed to grab hold of a nice $169k in winnings.
Players on the Losing End
Blom, who just managed to break even just this week didn’t perform well on his plays and ended up with $197k worth in his losses. There were also other high profile players last night although they ended up with losses instead. The players who’ve lost include O Fortuna PLS with a total of $109k in losses and Jens Kyllonen with $32k.
Overall, it was a good night for Gus Hansen and a handful of other players as well although Hansen is still less than a hundred thousand short in hitting the $4 million mark. Too bad that the WSOP will be starting next week, but still, things went great for Hansen nonetheless as his 2011 run is looking good so far. But for now, it’s time to prepare for the upcoming WSOP.
