Only a few months have gone by since France has opened its arms to regulated online gambling, but already they’re reaping the benefit of their good sense. All the major poker companies have moved into the French Market, and it seems as if they’re going to have another giant in the poker industry among their ranks. Titan Poker is set to enter into the scene pretty soon. They have already obtained a license to operate in France and the only thing left to do is to establish themselves in the market.
Titan Poker and France
The licensing frenzy in France has actually begun many months ago, so Titan Poker is a little late in coming. Still, the French Market is said to be the second largest in continental Europe, so they’ll no doubt still have a good piece of it despite their tardiness. PokerStars and Full Tilt have actually managed to establish themselves first, albeit they too hesitated because of the labyrinth of hoops that the French government made them jump through. Titan Poker has a card up their sleeve though, as they’re planning to have a grand entrance, lavish promotions and bonuses and all. Their existing French players can switch to the French version and get lots of goodies to boot. Titan made a big compromise so that it could secure approval from the French regulatory body, ARJEL, though. They’re going to help fight against gambling addiction by giving players the means to decide and regulate the amount that they’re going to spend on the game. This way, it’s going to be much easier for players to avoid gambling addiction.
Tax Revenue
Of course, if the online poker rooms are looking to cash on the French market, the French government is hoping to cash in on them in turn. The French government is going to have a treasure trove of taxes with all these poker sites bowing low to them. In fact, some critics of this new regulatory law have said that the taxes levied by the French government are much too high. But the government is obviously doing right by their actions as now even the United States seems to be following suit. The US is currently looking into the possibilities of regulating online gambling, the movement led by Senator Harry Reid. Rumor has it that the law will be passed pretty soon, maybe even in two weeks.
