Remember the issue that erupted last month about Deliverance Poker suing Full Tilt over a case concerning Michael “The Grinder” Mizrachi and a breached contract? Well, Part Two of that story is now here, with an unexpected twist. Deliverance Poker has decided – voluntarily – to drop all charges against Full Tilt Poker or, as the site was named in the case, Tiltware LLC.
The story behind
If you don’t know about this issue or if you have forgotten about it, then let me give you a small summary, as it is impossible to move on with this story without knowing the details. It all started with Michael “the Grinder” Mizrachi, who signed with Deliverance Poker, carried its brand into the WSOP as he hurtled through the ranks and made his way to the final table. At first, there were no problems. He wore the brand on his shirt, his cap, his apparel, everything, just like a good promoter of Deliverance Poker. But then the trouble started when Mizrachi appeared in the tournament without wearing the usual Deliverance Poker gear. He showed up wearing Full Tilt gear and that’s when Deliverance got pissed and filed a law suit.
Of course, who wouldn’t be annoyed? Here they were, finally at the point where an investment on a certain pro would pay off, and suddenly he turns around and abandons them without a care in the world about a breached contract. Deliverance Poker was practically given no choice, so they filed a lawsuit against both Mizrachi and Full Tilt. Recent events, however, have shown that Deliverance has been rethinking its decision.
Full Tilt now off the hook
Without any appeal from Full Tilt – any official one, anyway – Deliverance Poker has decided to drop all charges against them. Michael Mizrachi, on the other hand, isn’t quite as lucky. Deliverance Poker will continue to press charges against him, and has in fact filed a motion for a temporary restraining order against him last month. It’s unfair to judge Mizrachi too hastily, however, and he should be given the benefit of doubt until he’s proven guilty. Either way, the whole issue has just made it much more interesting to watch him as he plays on the final table this November 9. If he really is guilty though, Mizrachi better do well in the final table so that he can have money for the lawsuit.
