The idea behind the promotion is really simple: one person gets to win a WSOP main event seat from Dan “Jungleman12” Cates. Then, when you chance upon it, simply go to the location he mentioned and you will find Dan Cates there giving away free tickets. Just get one and you’ll automatically be included into the promotion, no strings attached. The promotion will begin next week and it will run until June 25.

That gives people well more than a month to join and get a ticket. $10,000 is nothing to scoff at, after all, and if you can get a WSOP seat for free, then what’s there to think about? Of course, Cates will only be giving away tickets to those who have never tried joining the WSOP Main Event before. How exactly he plans to verify this is unknown, but I suspect it’s a matter of trust. Furthermore, Cates will be giving away free lessons to the winner in order to get him pumped up for the WSOP Main Event, which is possibly the most grueling poker tournament in the entire world.

In this day and age, it’s pretty hard to believe that anybody would do something like this If there wasn’t any catch. Then again, Cates really isn’t getting anything out of this except for the rep boost that he’s sure to gain. He won’t be making any silly stipulations such as requiring that the winner give him a percentage of his winnings, if ever he does win. This could possibly be an activity to improve Cates’ mindset for the upcoming tournament. Either way, what does it matter? Free $10,000 and free lessons to boot – what else can you ask for?
