Has anyone else noticed that Phil Hellmuth has been culturing a squeaky clean reputation these days? I can’t even remember the last time that the Poker Brat said something ‘bratty’ that merited the headlines – and to be honest, I kind of miss it. But if he’s doing such great things as this one, then who am I to complain? Hellmuth’s about to host yet another charity poker tournament, this time for HospiceCare, Inc.
Getting into the Holiday Spirit
This December 18, Hellmuth will be hosting a charity poker tournament from 3:00 PM to 12:00 midnight at Madison, Wisconsin. He’ll also take a pretty active role in the games as he himself will be playing. During the tournament, some prizes will be raffled off, and all the proceeds will go to HospiceCare, Inc. Some of these prices include a two-year lease on a beautiful 2011 Honda Accord LX – though I can just imagine the heartache when those two years are finally done – and a seat on the 2011 WSOP Main Event – quite a big price, considering it’s worth $10,000 and it could very well be your chance to become the next Poker Superstar.
What’s great about this tournament is that anybody can join. The buy-in’s not an exorbitant amount at all. In fact, you can choose from several different levels. First there’s the $500 ticket, which is the most expensive, where you’ll have everything laid out for you. Aside from just playing in the tournament, you’ll also have access to the VIP room, where all the celebs stay along with Hellmuth himself. Then there’s the $300 ticket, which accounts for a seat at the tournament as well as food and drinks. Lastly, there’s the $100 ticket, which will allow you to join the event, but not the tournament.
If you do join the tournament and make it into the final table, you’ll be given the opportunity to take Hellmuth down mano y mano. Of course, whoever wins will get access to more goodies, not to mention bragging rights.
HospiceCare Inc.
The charity tournament will benefit Hospicare Inc., which is a nonprofit hospice that cares for more than 630 patients. The hospice is located in Wisconsin, which is Hellmuth’s hometown. Hospices are truly noble places which cater to the needs of those who are without hope of cure, so it would really be a big help if you could join the tournament. Several companies have extended a helping hand to this cause as well, particularly UB.com, Clear Channel Radio, McDonalds, and more.
