Ali Tekinatamgac Disqualified from Partouche Poker Tour

Winning in poker involves a lot of skill and luck, but there are people who wish to boost their chances by doing something unspeakable, such as cheating. Of course, due to the game’s nature, it’s pretty difficult to tell which players are cheating and which are not. In fact, it’s near impossible to prove another player’s guilt if not for today’s technology. It’s a good thing, then, that we now have video cameras that can record a person’s every move. In fact, it was video evidence that led to the disqualification of Ali Tekintamgac from the Partouche Poker Tour.

Hand Signals

Cheating in poker can range from the most sophisticated methods to the simplest ones. Tekintamgac apparently prefers the latter. Video evidence showed that he was receiving information about his opponents’ hands from some of the media workers in the area during the event. So far, this supposed crime has not yet been confirmed and is still under investigation. If it does get proven that Tekintamgac did cheat, however, he may be facing charges of fraud. This could spell out some trouble for him, as he might possibly need to do some time in prison or pay a hefty fine. Of course, there are also several repercussions in his career. He has already been disqualified for this Partouche Tournament and possibly future ones too if he can’t clear his name. He is unlikely to be welcomed at future poker events, especially since his previous wins this year have already begun to be questioned.

He has a lot of wins too and has in fact had a very prosperous 2010. He had deep finishes at several tournaments across Europe, the biggest one being his win at the WPT in Barcelona.

Suspicious Rumors

Things are looking pretty bad for Tekintamgac, but they’re made even worse by the presence of previous rumors about him cheating at a poker event. At the EPT Tallinn, the event referee had to remove several media operatives from the vicinity as they seemed to be making hand signals to Tekintamgac. However, though his accomplices were sent away, Tekintamgac himself was allowed to continue playing. He eventually finished at 36th place. The police aren’t the only ones doing the investigating either, as the people on poker forums are already analyzing video footage of Tekintamgac’s games.

Apparently, several people always seemed to be in the audience whenever he played, marking them as the possible accomplices.
