Everyone was waiting for the day when the Brunson 10 would finally be complete. But with only five members chosen so far, completion seemed to be a distant dream. Now, however, that dream has become even more distant because Alec Torelli’s decision to leave the team.

What is the Brunson 10?

You can’t call yourself a poker fan if you don’t know who Doyle Brunson is. Doyle Brunson, the godfather of poker, is one of the biggest figures in the poker world. Thousands hang on his every word, especially since he was one of the pioneers of Texas Hold’em, the most popular poker variation today, and author of what is considered the Bible of the poker world. He is also a 10-time WSOP bracelet winner. And what’s more, he owns an online poker site called ‘Doyle’s Room’. Doyle Brunson chose 10 young poker players whom he deems worthy to bring poker into the new millennium to represent his site. He called this group the Brunson 10. However, as of yet, he has only chosen 5 players, namely Alec Torelli, Chris Moorman, Amit Makhija, Zachary Clark, and Dani Stern. Why did Torelli Leave?

Alec Torelli was one of the earlier members of the Brunson 10, having joined last July 2009. Nobody expected that he would not even last a year on the group. However, it was just recently confirmed that Torelli’s contract with Doyle’s Room will not be renewed. It’s a big loss because Torelli certainly had a track record that was made to impress. However, the young pro is said to be moving on to a different project which, according to the rumor mill, involves the new poker site on the Everleaf Network.

The staff at Doyle’s Room isn’t worried, though, as they have been bombarded with letters from various pros who want to sign with them, even some who still have contracts with other sites. Furthermore, with the newest promotions in the site, Doyle’s Room has been growing steadily and is poised to have a wonderful year. But they say that they’re not going to be hasty as they still want to wait for the pros to come home from the Bahamas. It looks like they’re currently scouting for some new talent, and Doyle Brunson himself will hand-pick the new members of the Brunson 10.
