Types of WSOP Qualifiers
There are a number of different formats for Qualifiers. Some of them are a single multi-table tournament where 1 or more finalists gain entry in to the Satellite. In other formats there are steps where you have to win a single table 1st step to move on the second step and so on, with usually 6 or 7 steps required to get to the Satellite tournament. If you look carefully you may even be able to find a poker site that has a qualifier that is either free or only requires that you spend some of your poker points, which you earn from regular online play.
WSOP Qualifier Strategy
At the start of the Qualifier you need to see how many places get to move on to the next step or to the Satellite level. Unlike in regular tournaments where there is a major difference in the prize distribution between 1st and later places, in a qualifier a certain number of finishers move on to the next level and there is usually no difference between the winning finishes. Towards the end of the Qualifier you will be playing to finish in a position that will move you onward so you may find instances where you would fold a hand that you might ordinarily play. For example in a qualifier that gives Satellite entries to the top 3 finishers and only 5 players left in the tournament, you might want to try to avoid getting in to a hand with one of the bigger stacks in the hopes that 2 of the smaller stacks bust out.
A $1 Buy In Could Change Your Life
The most exciting part of playing in a free or low entry Qualifier is that it give you a chance to win something so huge that it would change your life. By playing in low entry qualifiers you can win your entry in to a satellite. If you can win a WSOP main event prize package in the satellite then you are going to, at the very least, have the experience of a lifetime playing in the WSOP main event. And who know, you could be like a number of players before you and win the Title.
